The Lung Meridian is in charge of breathing and the opening
and closing of pores. Fall is “Lung”
time. The “Spirit” associated with the Lung Meridian is “Po.” Po is the body’s “corporeal” soul and needs
to be needled to assist with alleviating pain in the body.
The Lungs have a downward action which the Kidney Meridian assists
with. The Kidneys are responsible for “grasping
Lung Qi.”
We see a lot of coughing in
the Fall when Lung Qi is deficient.
Pears (when sliced open look like a pair of “lungs”) are a
great “food” to eat in the Fall.
Here’s a great Lung/Pear recipe:
4 Bosc pears - cut in halves
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Small bag of sliced almonds
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Place fresh pear halves or canned halves in
baking dish.
Pore small amount of Captain Spiced Rum over
pears.
Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon mixture atop
halves.
Bake 8-10 minutes – check with toothpick.
Top with sliced almonds when cooled.
